Can You Get Banned for Using a Cronus Zen?

Yes, you can be banned for using a Cronus Zen in some online games. Several publishers treat the Zen as a cheating device, and some have said they detect it. No one, including us, can promise that a script or the Zen itself will never be detected.

Call of Duty

Activision announced in February 2026, ahead of Black Ops 7 Season 2, that its RICOCHET anti-cheat detects the Cronus Zen and XIM by how your inputs behave rather than by the hardware plugged in. In June 2026 Activision said its enforcement started with warnings, then moved on to temporary bans. In September 2026, before Modern Warfare 4 launched, Activision said about 5,000 accounts had been banned for cheating with devices like these, and that players who use the Zen, XIM Matrix or similar tools to cheat can get account and console bans. Fortnite

Epic has prohibited the Cronus Zen and Cronus Max in Fortnite since Chapter 3 Season 4 in 2022. A player using one can get a warning and must remove it to keep playing, and Epic says trying to get around the restriction can lead to a permanent ban. Sources: Epic, 2022, Epic Help.

NBA 2K27

On 24 September 2026, 2K said it had given its first wave of permanent bans to NBA 2K27 accounts that used cheats and scripts for shooting aids and other input manipulation. The bans go back to Early Access on 26 August 2026, and repeat cheating leads to a console or PC ban. 2K did not name the Cronus Zen, but a Zen script that times your shots is a script used as a shooting aid. Rules change with every season and every new release. Check the current terms and anti-cheat news for your game before you play online with a script running.

What this means for you

• Using a Zen in an online game is your choice and your risk.
• Offline modes carry the least risk. Private matches are still online, so the same rules apply.
• Cycle to the logo screen on the Zen to play with no script running. Steps: program-scripts. Fortnite restricts the Zen itself, so unplug it before you play Fortnite.
• Our licence-agreement sets out what we do not promise about bans and detection.
