Cronus Zens
Cronus Zens Studio vs Zen Studio
Use the Cronus Zens Studio to put scripts on your Zen from Chrome, Edge or Opera on any computer, with nothing to install. Use Collective Minds’ Zen Studio for what ours does not do: the output protocol, the Device Monitor, mouse and keyboard tuning, GamePacks and writing your own GPC. Both program the same Zen, and our own setup guide uses each for its part.
We made the Studio on this site, so this page is ours. Facts about Zen Studio come from Collective Minds’ guide and store, linked where they are used, as checked on Oct 29, 2026. Cronus Zens is not affiliated with Collective Minds.

What each one is
Zen Studio is Collective Minds’ Windows program for the Cronus Zen. Besides programming the 8 memory slots, it holds the GPC compiler, the GamePacks, the GPC Library of community scripts, the Device Monitor, the device settings and the mouse and keyboard settings. Its download page lists version 1.6.1 Build 82, and the newest dated entry in its changelog is Build 77, from June 17, 2025.
The Cronus Zens Studio is the home page of this site. It reaches the Zen through your browser, lists our library by game and programs what you pick to the slots you choose. It has no code editor and does not change device settings such as the output protocol. It exists to get scripts onto a Zen with as few steps as possible.
Collective Minds also has a browser version. Its store FAQ calls it Zen Studio Live, says it works on Mac or Windows in Chrome, and describes the Windows program as old software that is no longer supported. The next answer on the same page still names Zen Studio for Windows as the software at the heart of the Zen, and the official guide still offers it for download, so that is the version compared here.
Where Zen Studio wins
- Output protocol. On PS4, Xbox and Switch the Zen has to be told which console it is plugged into. That setting is in Zen Studio’s Device panel, and our output protocol guide sends you there.
- Device Monitor. It shows the inputs from all three USB ports and Bluetooth live, with trace fields for script authors. It only works over the PROG port.
- Mouse and keyboard. Six layouts, each with its own aim settings and button mapping. Our mouse and keyboard guide walks through them.
- Writing GPC. The compiler is a full editor, and Build and Run starts a script straight away without programming a slot.
- GamePacks. Collective Minds’ ready-made game setups, which its guide describes as free and built by community experts.
- Support from the maker. It is Collective Minds’ own software for Collective Minds’ own device, documented in the official guide.
Where the Cronus Zens Studio wins
- No install, on any desktop system. It runs in Chrome, Edge or Opera on Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS. Zen Studio for Windows needs Boot Camp or Parallels on a Mac and a Windows virtual machine on Linux.
- A library sorted by game. 50 scripts for 7 games, 29 of them free, each with its author, version and last update on its own page in Discovery.
- Free license keys. Some of our scripts are locked on Collective Minds and open with a free code from cronuszens.com/key.
- No file to handle for paid scripts. cronus2K is built for you and goes straight onto your Zen, so there is nothing to download, keep or load.
- OLED Mirror. Club members can put the Zen’s screen into OBS as a Browser Source while they stream.
Using both on one Zen
They do different jobs, and our own quick start guide uses both. A first setup goes like this:
- Update the firmware in the Updater.
- Not on PS5: set the output protocol in Zen Studio, with PROG plugged into the computer.
- On PS5: set up Zen Link with Collective Minds’ Zenlink phone app, as in Zen Link setup.
- Program your scripts from the Studio, following Program scripts.
Close Zen Studio before you connect the Zen on this site, so the two are not using the Zen at once.
Before you install Zen Studio
Collective Minds’ requirements page asks for a Windows 10 or 11 PC. Its Linux page shows the installer fetching .NET Framework 4.8.1, and since version 1.6.1 Build 1 (December 4, 2024) the changelog lists a mandatory internet connection and a licence agreement at setup and at startup.
On a Mac, the guide suggests Boot Camp, or Parallels 18 on Apple M1 machines. On Linux, it runs Zen Studio inside a Windows VirtualBox machine. If all you want is to put scripts on the Zen, the Studio on this site does that in the browser you already have, and the rest of Collective Minds’ tools are there when you need them.
Zen Studio questions
Do I need Zen Studio to use a Cronus Zen?
Not to program scripts: the Studio on cronuszens.com does that from Chrome, Edge or Opera. You still need Collective Minds’ software to set the output protocol on PS4, Xbox and Switch, to use the Device Monitor and to tune mouse and keyboard.
Does Zen Studio work on a Mac?
The Windows program does not run on macOS itself. Collective Minds’ guide suggests Boot Camp, or Parallels 18 on Apple M1 Macs, and its store points Mac owners to its browser version. The Cronus Zens Studio runs in Chrome, Edge or Opera on a Mac.
Can I use Zen Studio and Cronus Zens on the same Zen?
Yes. Set the output protocol and mouse and keyboard in Zen Studio, then close it, connect the Zen on cronuszens.com and program your scripts.
Can the Cronus Zens Studio load my own GPC file?
Yes. Drag a .gpc or .cz file onto a slot and press Program. To write or edit GPC you need an editor, such as the compiler in Zen Studio.
How do I update Cronus Zen firmware without Zen Studio?
Use the Updater at cronuszens.com/update in Chrome, Edge or Opera. It installs Collective Minds’ own firmware builds. Collective Minds also runs its own web update tool for Chrome and Edge.
Is Cronus Zens part of Collective Minds?
No. Collective Minds makes the Cronus Zen and Zen Studio. Cronus Zens is an independent site and is not affiliated with them.
